Description
Phy Ed 7 (7111)
Grade Placement: 7………..0.0 credit……….(S1 or S2)
This course focuses on physical activity in the form of a variety of movement units. These units include Badminton, Basketball, Fitness Concepts, Floor Hockey, Football, Soccer, Softball, and Volleyball. This year students will be expected to change into physical education clothing. Students will need to purchase a physical education t-shirt. Students will also need to bring shorts and tennis shoes. Students will go outside so please consider bringing sweatshirts and sweatpants when needed.
Prioritized Benchmarks
Physical Education plays a critical role in educating the whole student. Like other academic courses of study, Bismarck Public School's Physical Education is based upon North Dakota State Standards/Benchmarks that define what students should know and be able to do as a result of participation. Physical Education is unique to the school curriculum as it is the only program that provides students with opportunities to learn motor skills, develop fitness, and gain understanding about the importance of physical activity.
Standard 1: Movement Forms
Students demonstrate motor skills and movement patterns needed to perform a variety of physical activities.
- PED-06.1.01 Demonstrate the combination of locomotor, non-locomotor, and object control skills in modified team or individual sports
Standard 2: Movement Concepts
Students understand and apply movement concepts, principles, strategies, and tactics to learn and perform physical activities.
- PED-06.2.01 Provide feedback to self and others on a variety of motor skills to improve motor performance
Standard 3: Physical Activity
Students participate in regular physical activity.
- PED-06.3.01 Identify health benefits and risks associated with the effect of physical activity on body composition
- PED-06.3.02 Participate regularly in moderate to vigorous physical activity
Standard 4: Fitness Concepts
Students understand and apply fitness concepts to achieve and maintain a health-enhancing level of physical fitness.
- PED-06.4.02 Set goals related to personal fitness assessments
- PED-06.4.03 Identify physical activities for the development and maintenance of each component of health-related fitness
Standard 5: Behavior in Physical Activity
Students exhibit responsible personal and social behavior in physical activity settings.
