German III/IV Frau Crow
Assignment
Junior/Senior German III/IV Project: Writing in German
Purpose:
To practice and improve communication skills in German
To improve organizational skills
To improve writing skills
To learn new vocabulary within a context or idea, reinforce vocabulary you already know and to review grammar
To practice writing in German without the aid of a computer translator
To improve your confidence in ability to communicate in German
To create twenty guided, well-written essays for your German III/IV Junior/Senior project which we will scrapbook and be able to present to university professors and parents; thereby vastly improving your chances of entering college German at a higher level
Scope and Organization
The essays range from pets, home life, work experiences to favorite foods, TV programs, films and sports teams. Each essay prompt will include a complete list of vocabulary to help you. Each Essay is divided into 10 leading questions, which will guide you to create a well-written essay. You may choose to keep your essay short, or you may choose to elaborate, as you wish.
Time
Each essay will take from thirty to sixty minutes for you to hand write. Writing will take place during class time and the assigned essay will be due the next day. IVs an IIIs will partner up and critique each others’ writings; giving praise, suggesting changes, checking for grammatical errors, etc. You will be expected to partner with a different person on the next essay critique. Expect to spend a total of 30 class days on this project.
Frau Crow will double-check your completed and critiqued essay before you type your final draft. You will be expected to make any necessary corrections when we type our essays in the computer lab during scheduled class time. Check with her if you have any questions.
Value
Each of the twenty hand-written rough drafts are worth 30 points. Each typed, final draft is worth another 30 points, for a total of 1200 points possible.
