  1. 25-26 S1 Anatomy_Physiology - Johnson
  2. Chapter 5: Histology
  3. Learning objectives, case studies & resources for: Histology

Learning objectives, case studies & resources for: Histology

Completion requirements

In this chapter, students will be able to:

1) discuss the origins and functions of tissues

2) identify tissue types by written description  (Crash Course Anatomy video on epithelial;connective; types of connectives videos are linked).

3) identify tissue types from microscope slides - a really good review site for this skill is found here!

4) describe the four primary tissue types in terms of their outward appearance (what one sees and does NOT see when observing under a microscope).

5)  explain what type of tissue is developed from each of the three embryological germ layers (endo, meso, and ectoderm).

6)  differentiate between the 3 different types of exocrine glands, including their name, function, and location within the body.

*The emphasis is on form and function, so they will need to identify what type of tissue, where it resides in the body, and its primary function.

NOTE:  A variety of activities including lecture, lab, and internet activities will be used.  Click to access study partner site or U of M histology site.  If you are looking for an overall tutorial to tissues, click here!  Crash Course Anatomy video on histology is here.

ALSO NOTE:  This test is primarily diagram/slide identification with some short answer/essay questions.
