Learning objectives & resources for: Thermochemistry
Completion requirements
In this short unit, students will be able to:
1) Use stoichiometry to determine the energy required or produced in a chemical reaction when given an amount of a substance.
2) Use the formula q = mC(t2-t1) to identify a substance from its specific heat, determine its mass, determine its ending temperature, or determine the energy released. The Crash Course Chemistry video on calorimetry and Hess' Law is here.
3) Differentiate between specific heat capacity and heat capacity
4) Perform joules and calories conversions using 4.18J = 1 cal
