Learning objectives, case studies & resources for: Digestive system - enzymes
In this unit, students will be able to:
1) Discuss the overall process of ingestion, digestion, absorption, and excretion.
2) List and explain the functions of accessory organs to the digestive system.
3) List and explain the function of all of the enzymes secreted by the regions of the digestive pathway.
4) Perform a series of experiments to determine the composition of various nutrients in terms of classifying carbohydrates, lipids, and proteins.
5) Name the test used to identify various nutrients (ie - benedict's, iodine, xanthoproteic, etc).
6) Provided a meal with certain nutrients, explain what nutrients are digested and absorbed along the GI pathway.
