PED-01.S1

1st Grade (PED) Targeted Standards

Standard 1: Student demonstrates competency in a variety of motor skills and movement patterns.

Standard Calculation

Standards are larger groups of related Performance Outcomes. So the Standards Grade is a calculation of all the related Performance Oucomes. So click on the Performance Outcomes below each Standard to access the learning targets and proficiency scales for each Physical Education Standards's related Performance Outcome.

Outcome Expectations:

By the end of Grade 5, the learner will demonstrate competence in fundamental motor skills and selected combinations of skills; use basic movement concepts in dance, gymnastics and small-sided practice tasks; identify basic health-related fitness concepts; exhibit acceptance of self and others in physical activities; and identify the benefits of physically active lifestyle.

PED-01.S1.01

1st Grade (PED) Physical Education Outcome

Standard 1: Demonstrates competency in a variety of motor skills and movement patterns.

PED-01.S1.01 - Hops, gallops, jogs and slides using a mature pattern.

The Student is able to...

Hops - Moving continuously on the same foot (single foot)
Gallops - Step together, step hop (continuously)
Jogs - Running at a slow pace
Slides - Step together step in a sideways motion (feet do not cross over)

can perform 2 or less out of the 4 skills in a mature form

(2) Developing

can perform 3 out of the 4 skills in a mature form

(3) Proficient

can hop, gallop, jog and slide step in a mature form

(4) Advanced

PED-01.S1.07 - Maintains stillness on different bases of support with different body shapes.

performs all 4 stances while maintaining stillness for 5 seconds

1st Grade (PED) Physical Education Outcome

Standard 1: Demonstrates competency in a variety of motor skills and movement patterns.

PED-01.S1.22 - Volleys an object with an open palm, sending it upward.

Student Learning Targets:

Maintain eye contact with the object
Volleying the object sequentially

(1) Beginning

does not volley the balloon using mature form or in a sequential manner

(2) Developing

can strike the balloon using all 4 cues while sequentially volleying the balloon 1-2 times. (The student may volley more than 2 times, but may also lack consistent form)

(3) Proficient

can strike the balloon using all 4 cues while sequentially volleying the balloon 3-4 times while maintaining mature form

(4) Advanced

can strike the balloon using all 4 cues while sequentially volleying the balloon 5 or more times while maintaining mature form

Standard 2: Applies knowledge of concepts, principles, strategies and tactics related to movement and performance.
