Standard 1: Student demonstrates competency in a variety of motor skills and movement patterns.

Standard Calculation

Standards are larger groups of related Performance Outcomes. So the Standards Grade is a calculation of all the related Performance Oucomes. Outcome Expectations:

By the end of Grade 5, the learner will demonstrate competence in fundamental motor skills and selected combinations of skills; use basic movement concepts in dance, gymnastics and small-sided practice tasks; identify basic health-related fitness concepts; exhibit acceptance of self and others in physical activities; and identify the benefits of physically active lifestyle.

Kicking Skill Checklist

  1. Arms extended forward in preparation
  2. Contact with ball is made directly below center of the ball (travel in the air); contact is made directly behind center of the ball (travel on the ground).
  3. Contact the ball with shoelaces or top of foot for kicking action
  4. Trunk leans back slightly in preparation for kicking action
  5. Follow through with kicking leg extending forward and upward toward target

  • Health Related Fitness: Consists of those components of physical fitness that have a relationship with good health.. The five components include: cardiorespiratory endurance, flexibility, muscular strength, muscular endurance, and body composition.
