 MAT-03 Targeted Standards(NBT) Domain: Number and Operations in Base TenCluster: Use place value understanding and properties of operations to perform multi­digit arithmetic. MAT-03.NBT.02 Fluently add and subtract within 1000 using strategies and algorithms based on place value, properties of operations, and/or the relationship between addition and subtraction. Fluently adding and subtracting means students are able to work accurately, efficiently, and flexibly with numbers.  The word algorithm refers to a procedure or series of steps.  This standard also requires that students have experiences that enable them to explore place value strategies and the relationships among numbers to solve problems.
