Health Standards

The BPS-S (HTL) Health Education Standards course in Learnbps is Bismarck Public School District's current progress on prioritizing and deconstructing standards to provide a consistent, clear understanding of what students are expected to learn. The standards are designed to provide guidance so teachers and parents know what they need to do to help students. Plus help students reflect on the knowledge and skills that they need for success.

The Bismarck Public School District Standards-Based Progress Report displays grades at the concept level. Therefore Bismarck Public School District has modified the North Dakota DPI Identifiers to fit into our student information system PowerSchool for Standards-Based grading. Above is a BPS CSC Standards identifier showing the addition with smaller muted text to the the identifier are the components that BPS adds to the State code.

Subject

Health Education Content Standards
Health education includes information about
physical, mental health, exercise and nutrition,
and disease and injury prevention. Comprehensive
health education builds students' knowledge, skills,
and positive attitudes about health, and motivates
our young people to make positive choices that will
maintain and improve their health.

BPS uses MS to indenticate Middle School
instead of 8 which the state uses
The standards and accompanying benchmarks are
presented in five grade bands (K-2, 3-5, 6, 7-8, 9-12).
Grade banding provides flexibility to those delivering
instruction while recognizing the diversity present
within school structure. It is the expectation of this
document that students meet the designated benchmarks
by the end of each grade band

Individual grade-specific standards can be identified by their standard, grade, and benchmark, so that 1.8.10, for example, 1 stands for the Standard Growth and Development while 8 stands for grades 6-8, and 10 represents the benchmark.
