 Announcement

The North Dakota Department of Public Instruction (NDDPI) has issued final adequate yearly progress (AYP) reports for all public schools and public school districts for the 2011-12 school year. These final AYP reports have been posted on the NDDPI’s STARS system, under the 2012 AYP Report. Contact your district administrator if you do not have authority to access this report. The final AYP reports will be posted publicly on the NDDPI website effective Wednesday, May 30, 2012.

These final school AYP reports have been generated according to the rules set forth within the State’s current accountability workbook, which received final approval from the U.S. Department of Education and which can be accessed at the following web address: http://www.dpi.state.nd.us/grants/proposal2011.pdf.

The 2011-12 AYP guidance, which presents an overview of the AYP determination process can be accessed at the following website: http://www.dpi.state.nd.us/testing/account/AYP1112.pdf. This guidance also specifies any changes that have occurred in this year’s AYP reports, including a change in this year’s disaggregated graduation rate determination that was required by federal regulation.

Final AYP Press Release for Local Preparations

The NDDPI has prepared the final press release announcing the 2011-12 AYP reports, following a final AYP quality assurance review. The NDDPI advises you to use this final press release as the basis for your local reporting. The NDDPI makes this press release available to you in advance of its public release on Wednesday, May 30, 2012, to allow you an opportunity to prepare for your local communications. You can access this press release at the following web address: http://www.dpi.state.nd.us/news/2012/press_release20120525.pdf. This press release is considered embargoed until Wednesday, May 30, 2012, noon.

Federal law requires all public schools and districts to report their annual AYP results to the public. The NDDPI’s Title I unit will forward separate instructions to schools and districts identified for program improvement based on these AYP reports.

If you have any questions regarding this final release of AYP reports, please contact Heidi Bergland at 328-2317 or hbergland@nd.gov. Thank you for your attention to these matters. I wish you all the best.
