K-8 Grade Levels

Grade 01

1st grade logoThe 1st grade math BPS-prioritized standards were selected to equip your child to build upon their kindergarten foundation and embark on exciting new adventures!

They'll become even more confident with counting, reaching numbers up to 120 and mastering skip counting by 5s and 10s. Numbers will transform as they unlock the secrets of two-digit numbers, understanding how tens and ones work together. They'll become comparison experts, using symbols to show if a number is bigger, smaller, or the same.
But 1st grade math goes beyond just counting! They'll develop problem-solving skills, tackling word problems with up to three numbers and even unknowns. Plus, they'll learn to write equations using symbols (+, -, =) to represent these challenges.
The fun doesn't stop there!  They'll delve deeper into the world of shapes, exploring both flat 2-D and 3-D shapes and describing their properties. Telling time becomes a snap as they learn to read analog and digital clocks, mastering the hour and half-hour.  Real-world math comes alive as they explore money, identifying and using coins and bills to solve problems. Finally, they'll develop critical thinking skills by analyzing data and answering questions about the information they find.
This comprehensive 1st grade math program will equip your child with the foundational skills they need to succeed in future math adventures and prepare them for everyday life!
