Framework (AP) Academic Preparedness 

AVI-08.AP.03: Collaboration is teamwork with shared responsibility, sharing of ideas, information and opinions, and formal and informal discussion. Students who collaborate work together toward a common goal, develop positive interdependence, work in focused study groups, and support the learning of others through inquiry.

Sub-Standards:

(a) Negotiate roles within a collaborative group through the adoption of effective elements of collaboration
(b) Integrate multiple perspectives into group products
(c) Deepen relational capacity through the creation of novel ideas and solutions
(d) Interact with peers in complex situations while maintaining a focus on respect, trust, and empathy
(e) Support all group members’ understanding of key concepts
(f) Utilize technology to connect to the global community and to explore topics from multiple perspectives
(g) Adjust ineffective verbal and nonverbal communication into effective communication
(h) Demonstrate active listening by asking clarifying questions

Framework (AP) Academic Preparedness 

AVI-08.AP.04: Organization means students develop and use processes procedures, and tools to study effectively while managing their time through prioritizing and goal setting.

Sub-Standards:

(a) Develop efficient, individualized routines related to using organizational tools and planning strategies to enhance academic performance.
(b) Reflect on the use of an activity log or tracking system for community extracurricular activities and hours.
(c) Understand and demonstrate the concepts and practices of backward mapping.
(d) Identify upcoming events to proactively avoid time-management conflicts.
(e) Create short- and mid-range goals that support achievement of long-term goals.
(f) Modify goals and actions appropriately based on progress.
(g) Manage varied visual frameworks to organize language and show relationships between key concepts.

Students who organize can:

  • Self-direct, self-evaluate, self-monitor, and self-advocate to reach academic goals
  • Develop and use tools to organize thinking, resources, and time
