Curriculum Standards Student performance is measured by the establishment of rigorous academic standards adopted from the North Dakota state-driven, voluntary college and career readiness academic content standards in all core subject matters. The BPS teachers working collaboratively in their departments have defined "I can ... statements" and proficiency scales for these standards.

Grades K-5
The success skills for K-5 students will acquire and effectively apply the knowledge, attitudes, and skills necessary to understand and manage emotions, set and achieve positive goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain positive relationships, and make responsible decisions.
Grades 6-12
The Career Ready Practices provide students experiences necessary to becoming career ready; experiences that can be “practiced” using many different approaches in a variety of settings. Student refine these practices throughout their full continuum of learning: through their journey in school, college, the workforce and when they return to advance their education.

The Career Ready Practices component of the CTE provides a framework for the developmental experiences necessary to becoming career ready; experiences that can be “practiced” using many different approaches in a variety of settings. Student refine these practices throughout their full continuum of learning: through their journey in school, college, the workforce and when they return to advance their education.The North Dakota Department of Career and Technical Education also have content standards that assist in preparing students for entry into industry sectors and for post secondary education. The Bismarck Career and Technical Education teachers are developing proficiency scales for these standards to ensure that each program area offers courses that allow students to acquire essential knowledge and skills to be successful. -
